Team Spotlight: Meet Lin Thompson, Service Manager.
This month we are shining the spotlight on Lin Thompson, who has been a valued member of the Mardon team for nearly 12 years!
Also known as Baggins or Mother around the office, Lin came to Mardon looking for a new challenge, and shortly after joining, she found herself at the heart of the Service department.
As Service Manager, Lin plays a key role in keeping everything running smoothly, handling everything from customer breakdowns and servicing to consumable orders.
We are incredibly lucky to have her, and the birthday cheesecakes are just a bonus!
Can you introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your role at Mardon Recycling?
I’m Lin, also known as Baggins or Mother around the office! 😊 When my children got to an age where they needed me a little less, I decided it was time to do something for myself. I applied for a Receptionist role at Mardon and within just two weeks, with the Service Director away on holiday, I found myself stepping up to help run the department, and nearly 12 years on, it has stayed that way.
What drew you to work in recycling and sustainability?
Recycling and sustainability wasn’t something I knew a great deal about when I first joined, but once I was in the role I quickly gained a real knowledge of both, and that has continued to grow throughout my time at Mardon.
What is your favourite RamPack baler in our range?
The RamPack 75 without a doubt! It is easy to use, compact and suitable for such a wide range of customers, it really is a brilliant little machine!
What does a typical day look like for you here?
A typical day involves answering customer enquiries for breakdowns and servicing, building relationships with new customers, taking orders for consumables and liaising with our Head Engineer to keep the Service team running smoothly.
How would you describe the team culture at Mardon?
Superb, we have a great team here with a lot of staff being long term members, which I feel is a great asset. It shows everyone’s dedication to the job and Mardon as a whole.
What do you like to do outside of work?
Socialise, walk my dogs, play darts, baking for Mardon Staff (birthday cheesecakes).
