When businesses produce large volumes of recyclable waste, such as cardboard, paper & plastic, recycling machinery is the right place to turn. Choosing the right piece of waste equipment, however, can be the difference between effective waste management and inefficiency with recyclable waste removal.
For larger amounts of recyclable waste, Mill size balers can accommodate this and generate a reliable income source. This is due to mill size balers having the ability to create dense bales that can weigh up to 650kg.
But when given the opportunity to use horizontal balers, which would suit your business the best? At Mardon Recycling Machinery, we specialise in finding the right piece of recycling machinery for you, so here is a breakdown of what to expect from both Horizontal and Mill Size balers.
What is a Mill Size Baler?
Mill Size balers are large pieces of recycling machinery which can compact recyclable waste into dense bales, weighing between 450 – 650kg. These Mill Size bales are the right size to be sold directly to Recycling Mills.
A Mill size baler would benefit businesses which produce a substantial amount of recyclable waste and packaging – enough to generate a 450kg+ bale.
What types of Mill Size Balers are there?
Mill Size Vertical Balers
Mill Size Vertical Balers are the ultimate solution to producing mill size bales of recyclable waste. They ensure that you produce optimum size and weight bales to cash in on rebate opportunities, giving you a healthy revenue stream from your waste without the need for rebaling, and giving you maximum cost-efficiency of your baler.
The vertical mill size balers are perfect for sites with medium-to-large volumes of recyclable waste that will be hand-fed by an operator.
The Mill Size vertical baler is effective on the following materials:
Cardboard | Paper | Plastic Wrap | Soft Plastics | Textiles | Hard Plastics
Semi & Fully-Automatic (Horizontal) Mill Size Baler
Our Mill Size Semi-Automatic Balers are loaded either manually by an operator or can be mechanically bulk fed by using a bin lifter (forklift/bucket feed) forklift and the mill size baler automatically detects the material deposited. Once the correct level is reached, it will produce the bale. The operator is then alerted to thread the wires and tie off the bale, ready for ejection.
Fully-automatic balers require a continuous material stream and so are often fed by a conveyor. The baler automatically detects the material and produces round-the-clock bales, fully tied and ejected, without the need for operator input.
Our RamPack Semi-Automatic & Fully-automatic Balers are capable of producing mill size bales, making them ideal for warehouses, distribution centres, and manufacturing plants.
Cardboard | Paper | Soft Plastics | Plastic Bottles | Aluminium Cans
What are the Main Differences?
The main difference between the horizontal and vertical mill sized balers offered by Mardon, is that the vertical mill size baler is purely manual input and needs to be operated by an operator during usage. This includes machinery operation and bale ejection.
The semi & fully-automatic (horizontal) mill sized baler does not need to be monitored by an operator at all times when in use. Regardless of the loading method, the baler will begin baling the recyclable materials once it reaches a certain threshold. With a Semi-automatic baler, the machinery will notify the operator when to thread the wires and tie off the bales, ready for ejection. A Fully-automatic baler will bale, tie and eject the bales without the need for operator input.
Which Mill Size Baler is Right for you?
The right mill size baler depends on the volume of your recyclable waste, available space on site, number of staff, and budget.
If you’re looking for a compact solution, a vertical mill size baler may be the best fit.
If your business handles continuous high volumes, a horizontal mill size baler will offer greater efficiency and automation, giving your staff more time to fulfil other duties while automatically baling.
